Lisa Wegener, born in 1982, has a degree in translation and an MA in Applied Literary Studies (FU Berlin). She has worked as a freelance translator, surtitler and proofreader in English, French, Dutch and German since 2006. She has completed further training and residencies with the Arthur-Goldschmidt-Programme, Getting Acrozz, Vice Versa, Elmar Tophoven, Théâtre Transfert, Penser en Langues and other institutions. She has translated pieces by Marie Nimier, Peter Brook, Dieudonné Niangouna, Rabih Mroué, Virginie Despentes, Jan Fabre on tour in Germany and France as well as a play by Marie Henry published in Scène: Neue Theaterstücke aus Frankreich. Currently she is co-curating the anthologies Internationale queere Dramatik (International Queer Drama) and Afropéen-nes – afrodiasporische Dramatik aus Frankreich (Afropéen-nes – Afrodiasporic Drama from France) for the book series Drama Panorama, published by Neofelis Verlag. Her research interests focus on intertextuality and intermediality in theatre translation, strategies of decolonialisation and the theory and practice of feminist translation.

As a dancer she has a passion for swing, balboa and blues.
